Part II! This is an analysis of screencaps from OotP, to support the Sirius/Remus ship. There's less dialogue than PoA, but there are actually more screencaps than I thought there would be. Yay!

Our first glimpse of Sirius for the entire movie, and who's he with? Why, Remus, of course! In fact, before he sees Harry, he seems to be arguing with him, albeit with a hand...thrown across the back of Remus' chair? Sure. That's where Sirius' hand is... ~.^
They're looking very comfy together, aren't they? Face to face, very close together. Notice Arthur over there, presumably arguing as well. He's participating in the same conversation, but he's much more distance, in fact, on an entirely different height-level. He's partially standing, leaning across to get a word in. Sirius and Remus' body positions are much more intimate, familiar.
(I almost sound like I know what I'm doing, huh? No? Not really? Darn.)

Sirius notices Harry first...

but the moment he stops talking due to being distracted by Harry, we see Remus stop talking and glance up, to see what has caught Sirius' attention. Notice how Arthur has already turned to see Harry, along with Sirius, whereas Remus is still looking at Sirius. Since Remus and Arthur were apparently discussing the same thing with Sirius, the differing variable between the two cannot be the subject matter, but their relationship with Sirius. Remus looks at Sirius longer than Arthur because that's just what Remus does: looks at Sirius a lot.

But, after Remus is done with all his Sirius staring, he follows his gaze and...

Spots Harry!
I just think it's interesting how here, Remus' knowledge of the world is based on Sirius', whereas Arthur's is based on his own observation. Remus sees Harry because Sirius sees Harry - Arthur sees Harry just because.

When the meeting finally gets out, Harry gets to see his Goddad again.

We see Sirius walk up (little tip of his head over Arthur's right shoulder)...

...and Remus, barely a step behind (Sirius still barely visible up there).

Here, we see a touching family moment. And I'm not just talking about Sirius and Harry, here. Remus stays there, observing with a fond smile on his face. No qualms, no awkwardness. Even though it's all about Sirius and Harry being family, Remus is right there, as if he is a part of that equation as well.
Also, look at that expression on Remus' face. Could you call that anything but loving? No. No you couldn't.

Dinner time:
Okay, so some interesting stuff here. Throughout the books, JKR makes a point of having Sirius and Remus sit together. At the dinner table in the movie, this isn't the case:

We have Sirius sitting at the head of the table (which, granted, makes sense. It is his house, after all). Remus isn't next to him; he is, however, sitting directly across the table from Harry. Where Harry isn't sitting directly next to Sirius, this is interesting, since it would seem to indicate that, besides Sirius, Remus would be the next closest adult to Harry. Bit odd, considering the Weasley's are there, and all (we will ignore Kingsley sitting off to Harry's left. That's just...whatever).
Moreover, there isn't anyone sitting next to Harry at the moment. I assume Molly'll end up there, since Arthur is across from that place setting, and she's busy serving food at the moment. However, with the current arrangement, Harry is directly across the table to Remus, and Sirius is the first adult on his right. Interesting...

Dinner conversation...

Remus: Now fear makes people do terrible things, Harry. The last time Voldermort gained power he almost destroyed everything we hold most dear.

That screencap is where Remus' eyes drift at the end of that sentence: over to Sirius. His reaction:

He looks down and away. Sadness. Daw~~~
Now, was the look meant to convey shared emotion over James and Lily? The average person would say yes.
But look at that line more carefully. It wasn't about what was destroyed. It was about what was almost destroyed. So what was almost destroyed? James and Lily were killed. That's over and done with. Peter is a traitor: his friendship is gone forever as well. But Sirius and Remus still have each other. Their relationship - whatever it may be - is what Voldermort almost destroyed, but didn't.
Remus was referring to fear destroying him and Sirius' relationship, their trust in each other, and of course, the 12 years wasted apart.
It's so cute... *sniffle* ;_^

To be more clear about this, almost is an adverb modifying "destroyed" here, rather than and adjective modifying "everything". The line, were it to be about Lily and James and that whole tragedy, would have read "destroyed almost everything": destroyed Lily and James, but didn't destroy us and Harry. But instead, the line was "almost destroyed": attempted to destroy us, and did not.

For the visual learners... SENTENCE DIAGRAMMING TIME!

Note: I am slightly unsure as to a few minor details with the buried clauses going on there, but the part that I want to focus on, the "almost" modifying "destroyed", I'm sure of. If anyone has greater sentence diagramming knowledge than me and can see something wrong with this, let me know and I'll change it.

Here Sirius is speaking about stuff Moody and Molly would rather he not. Check out where Remus is looking.
Of course, you say, it's only natural! Sirius is speaking. Ah, but look where Arthur is looking. You can listen without staring at the person; Remus, however, has a definite tendency to stare at Sirius a bit more than most.

As I was saying :P
Of course, this might just be a continuation of my theory that David Thewlis is either in love with or terrified of Gary Oldman. I, personally, am both, so I wouldn't blame David for feeling the same way.

Onto the worst part ;_;

First person to Harry.

Difficult to say if that "No" was directed to Harry, or to the fact that Sirius just died. Probably to both.

Doesn't take his eyes off the archway, very much reflecting how he was constantly staring at Sirius in life.

Even as Harry is screaming, crying, Remus is just looking, staring at that archway that Sirius just passed through.

;_;

Well, that about wraps it up.
I'm gonna go write some fanfiction now, make myself actually useful :P
Like I said on the PoA analysis, any additions you want to make, lemme know!

I just wanted to say I'm very impressed with these two screenshot and dialogue analyses you've put together. ^_^ I daresay it's even helped me figure out a little of the dynamic I should write them in for future works.

Of course, this might just be a continuation of my theory that David Thewlis is either in love with or terrified of Gary Oldman.

I Agree With This Comment.

Kekeke.
Thanks! If you want even more insanity, go and check either my book analysis over here: http://amuly.livejournal.com/38255.html

or this *fantastic* essay: http://elwing-alcyone.livejournal.com/11152.html , which does a similar thing to what I did with the book quotes (except tons better :P)
by elwing. She does an excellent job analyzing Remus' character especially, and how that works with the Sirius/Remus dynamic.

We are all in love with Gary Oldman. Even Dan Rad. ;)

Great analysis of the movie, even with the little we see of Remus and Sirius, there is so much to derive from and so much love :3
I especially like your comment on the "almost destroyed" thing. Well analysed! *Eyes flutter* I really really may have to make you marry me :D

Hahaha. Well, perhaps four years of analyzing obscure (and not so obscure) references to gay sex as a philosophy major and classics minor paid off.

Actually, no. No it did not. If you marry me, I expect to be a kept woman, seeing as this sort of thing is all my degree is good for :P

Oh wow you really CAN do a degree in anything then xD Unfortunetly I am actually a few months short of even being legally old enough to read R-rated stories 0_o I feel like a baby in the R/S community.
So sadly I have no job and the only way we could make money is send your well-thought-out arguments to various people in hopes of getting pity money? :(

Hahaha. It's just that I had a professor who was a.] Gay, and b.] an expert on ancient Greek philosophy, which = lots and lots of gay shit going down in the background of SRSBSN philosophical discussions (look up "symposium" or "phaedrus" if you wanna see what I'm talking about ~.^ There's even a "is that a scroll in your cloak, or are you just happy to see me?" joke in the phaedrus. Plato was basically a dirty old gay man ^.^)

And if you're a few months of legal, that's pretty decent. I'm freaking ancient, but I've been shipping R/S since I was...15? 15 or 14, and I was reading pr0n starting when I was 12. I had a very odd middle school experience, basically. So if you're almost of age, that's a lot older than some of the other "babies" I know that are out there, reading my stuff and writing their own :P

Oh and since I mentioned gay stuff and philosophy, I feel the need to randomly promote my fledgling philosophy porn community: http://community.livejournal.com/symposium_love/
Feel no obligation to check it out, but since it sort of came up in conversation (sort of...) I thought I'd promote it.

Forget you, I think I need to marry Plato xD HE was the inventor of the "is that a -insert oblong object here- in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" joke :O? Amazing. Sounds like you had a pretty awsome professor.

You're not ancient, don't worry! And the way I see it I'm legally old enough to do secks, so I'm old enough to read about secks x]. I started to get into slash when I was about 13/14, and Remus and Sirius have always been my favourite characters, so when I read a fic about them togethor it all made sense :O :D

Eurgh, it wouldn't let me look at the commmunity atm, but I shall look at it later when I log out :)Thanks for the link. Never be ashamed of promoting your stuff!

Again, this is really well thought out and well executed. My only issue is perhaps about how much Remus doesn't want Sirius telling Harry about Voldie, etc. Honestly, I think that he seemed to support Sirius until toward the end. But that's a TINY pick!

Excellent use of screen shots.

I totally agree with you, I just made a stupid typo :P

LOL. That makes WAY more sense now! Those are the most annoying kinds of typos, are they not? The ones that spell other words? I once sent out a memo regarding "Inventory Counts" and forgot the "o" in "Counts."

Yes, my insane grammar knowledge has finally come in handy! :P

Every time I re-read that analysis, I always want to add a sentence diagram to show what I'm talking about. Maybe I will, now... *hurrrmmm*

I don't know if this was mentioned in the comments on one of the other posts you made listing all their moments, but I remember reading somewhere that David Thewlis actually thought he was playing a gay character until he received the script for one of the later movies (or something like that). I'm not sure how legit the source was, but I remember being really excited about it.

Yes, yes, we've got the interview somewhere in the myriad of comments... I need to figure out some place to put it in all the analysis, because it keeps coming up ^.^

The specifics of what I read was that Curaon told Thewlis to play the role like a gay junkie professor, or something like that.
