Sorry guys!!
Gah!!!

Okay, but seriously, I have a really good reason for falling behind on all my updates and series'.

Three words.

Doctor. Who. Scarf.

I know, I know, I'm an awful person. I'm behind on Pray the Gay Away AND Gwil's Guide to Growing Up Torchwood.

But, you see, I've been knitting this Doctor Who scarf.  You know: the Tom Baker one. And I was supposed to have it done in time for Christmas cards, which I needed to order by Monday (today) for various family reasons.

So I started knitting it like, a month or two ago. No problem: I'm a fast knitter, I get to catch up on Eastenders and the IT Crowd and Criminal Minds and all sorts of other lovely TV.

Then I figure out, about two feet from the end of scarf number one, that I've been reading the pattern wrong the whole time (I was one off, like when you fill in a scantron one off the whole time? Yeah. Grrrrrrrr....).

Damn it to fucking hell.

So I unravel the whole thing and take a few weeks off in a fit of depression.

Then I start back up again. Now I've got to speed-knit. I basically ruin my left index finger with all the wrapped yarn as I'm trying to keep the tension up, and my fingers/hands are so used to curling around my knitting needles that I find myself waking up in the middle of the night to searing hand pain and having to slowly uncurl them by pressing them against the mattress until they fall open.

No. Seriously. That happened twice.

So, knitting at an average of 15-20 inches a day this past week, I FINALLY finish.

*Sob*

So here it is:

There it is in its natural state: on my coat rack.

The best shot I could get of its length.

Tassels!! Which I've never done before, and were a welcome relief for my poor, crippled hands from all the knitting.

Moreover, the most amazing part of this whole thing is that I didn't drop a single. Fucking. Stitch.

I don't think I've ever gotten through a whole scarf without having to go back and fix a dropped stitch. I knitted this whole damn thing without dropping a one!!!

And, just to prove my knitting prowess, here's a close-up of the beautiful, tight, even stitching ^.^

Look at that. Gorgeous ^.^ And any wibbley-ness you see is just due to me not smoothing it down on the bed nicely.

So, basically, I apologize profusely for dropping off the face of the earth for the past half week or so, but I swear it was for a really good cause!

Oh, and once my Christmas cards go out, I'll post the picture here that the scarf was used in. ^.^ But I don't want to spoil the surprise for those of you on my card list.

(And in case anyone noticed: yes, my bedsheets are flamingos in Christmas get-up. I live in Florida, and those are my winter sheets. It...it makes sense.)

The scarf is fabulous! I've never done just a striped scarf before... maybe I should try that since crochet is so much easier it would be pretty fun... maybe after the holidays ^_^

Congrats on the completion! I must say.. that is one sexy scarf. Even if it isn't David Tennant's Dr Who :)

You know, I actually decided I like knitting more than crocheting, merely because crocheting hurts my eyes! I've got reading glasses (oh yeah, at the ripe old age of 22) and with knitting I never have to look down, but with crocheting I do. ;__; Maybe if I was better at crocheting I wouldn't have to look; I dunno. I'm just going to stick with knitting for now, even if my poor hands hate me for it :P

Bah to Tennant! Even though I loved him at the time, 1.] Matt Smith is SO FOOKIN' GOOD that I've forgotten all about silly Tennant, and 2.] Eccelston will always be my Doctor, no matter what anyone else says. He was a little meaner and grouchy, and I kind of love him for it. *snuggles Eccelston*

Now, excuse me while I put the last touches on my rs_small_gifts fic and get back to working on Pray the Gay Away :P

HOLY CRAP it's awesome :D My mum had a similar experience, in that we needed a 4th Doctor's scarf in 2 weeks from telling her for the HUB 5 O.O She ended up crocheting it so that she had enough time XD Oh, and the most awesome thing? She's now making a mini-scarf for Ianto Dragon!! He's going to look so cute ^_^

It's good to see you back, can't wait to see some more homosexual literature!

Oh don't worry I make fun of all of my friends that knit =P Probably because I can't do it to save my freakin' life.

Also reading glasses do not phase me, I am in fact legally blind without my contacts at 21, ah the joys of old age ^.^

This is really cool. I want to make a Tom Baker Scarf myself, but I don't know how I'd ever get it done. (I have yet to finish a knitting/crochet project. Ever.)

Your poor mom!

But totally post picys of your little Ianto Dragon once she finishes the scarf for that ^.^

And yes! I've already finished one piece of "homosexual literature", but it's for the [livejournal.com profile] rs_small_gifts comm, so it won't be up for a little bit. Now I'm back to working on Pray the Gay Away, so hopefully that'll be coming your way tonight or tomorrow ^.^

Hahaha well since finishing college I've had plenty of time on my hands to just watch tv and knit, so it's made finishing projects like these pretty easy. I dunno if I'd ever get something like this done when I'm taking classes.

I just think that Tennant is uber hawt, that's all, his accent is gorgeousness. Kinda why I got into watching the good Doctor ;)

Excuses, excuses.. fine, if you must continue working.. I guess I'll read that one too, gah XD

"well since finishing college I've had plenty of time on my hands"

Shutupshutupshutupshutup. I've got another 2 years *minimum* before I finish my 1st bachelors and *I'm older that you!* I'm going to be dead by the time I finally get around to my Doctorate.
