Torchwood Drinking Game
Jan. 9th, 2010 02:24 pmAlright, so here it is, after several days of testing (uhhhh I think I'm gonna be sick..) the Torchwood drinking game has been perfected and is now ready for public consumption!
Disclaimer: Please only play if you're over 21. I am not about to be held responsible for a bunch of kids getting sloshed and then doing stupid things.
Team Drinks:
-They say "CCTV" - 2 drinks (this one hurt me a lot during "Combat")
-Ianto snarks - 1 drink
-Ianto rolls his eyes - 2 drinks
-Anyone injured - 1 drink
-Jack dies - 3 drinks (resurrection powers!)
-Anyone tears up - 1 drink
-Anyone cries - 2 drinks (this means "tears actually falling" cries)
-Sex vaguely mentioned - 1 drink (innuendo counts)
-Kiss - 2 drinks
-Gwen emotionally cheats on Rhys - 1 drink (feel free to be loose with this one depending on your state of inebriation)
-Gwen physically cheats on Rhys - 2 drinks (I count kisses, dunno about yous guys)
Time for some Cap'n:
-Jack the whore - 1 drink
-Jack talks about his past - 1 drink (you think he never does this, until you start drinking every time he does. Turns out, all he ever fucking does is talk about his past. I go with 1 drink per separate story.)
-Jack on a roof - 2 drinks
-Jack drinks alcohol - drink with the Cap'n! (this means drink until he stops)
Theory: If you've never done this sort of thing before, here's the theory behind it all. Lesser amount of drinks (1 drink) is for stuff that happens often. Example: Ianto snarks. Higher amount of drinks (2 drinks) is for stuff that happens less often (Ianto rolls eyes). Of course, the point of all this is to get sort of sloshed, so everything on the list happens quite a bit. "Special" occurrences (Jack drinks alcohol) a marked by "special" drinks (drink with the Cap'n!). And since every episode is approx. an hour long, you can keep track of your BAC levels pretty easily (protip: 4 epis = 3 hours). In case, you know, you're into that sort of thing.
Evolution of this Game: So I'm forcing my friend,
shojokakumeii00 , to watch Torchwood over the break. She's a Doctor Who fan, so it didn't really take much cajoling (just had to agree to watch Legend of Galactic Heroes. Fair trade.) So I'm watching it with her, but I've watched all the episodes like, a gillion times in the past two months. So to make it more interesting for myself I started playing around with making a drinking game. At first the list only consisted of the stuff you see labeled "1 drink", and then the "suicide" version had the stuff labeled "2 drinks". We tested it, and after one episode I had only made it through half a beer.
The next night (last night/this morning) I combined the "suicide" and "normal" lists, to get the basic list you see in front of you. Shojo suggested I add drink "amounts" to each item, to distinguish between rare and non-rare events. We got creative with some of the options (she came up with "drink with the Cap'n"). Okay, so now we were in business, and ready to try out the new and improved drinking game.
How it Went: Well. It works, I'll say that. Once again, I'm not a heavy drinker, so you might have to modify it for yourself. I just know I managed to get myself slightly hungover, and I was drinking alone in my room. I did have my ever-so-helpful "friend" encouraging me to drink in my earpiece. The method we employed was I drank, she kept track after I got a bit too inebriated to, and possibly tricked me into drinking too much toward the end. The end result was that over the course of 3 episodes (Out of Time, Combat, and Captain Jack Harkness) I drank about 4 beers, though I think 2 of them were in "Out of Time" alone (so much crying and sex in that episode, geeze). Theoretically, this game is enough to get you drunk, but at the exact level that you can keep going with it for a while. This is especially useful if you're marathoning Torchwood, like Shojo and I are. Of course, I have a pretty low tolerance, due to my lack of time to have any fun and thus build a tolerance. If you're a skilled drinker, feel free to add your own stuff, or, if you're lazy, just double the amount of drinks for everything. I personally like this list because it's an actually possible drinking game. I find too often drinking games for movies or t.v. tend to go over the top (I understand, it's damn fun making up these lists), and are basically impossible to fulfill. If you're only watching one episode at a time, sure, you might want to up the dossage or add more stuff. But since I tend to watch things in marathon mode, this list worked out perfectly.
On that note, if you've got suggestions, things you want to add, or a counter-list, even, feel free to comment! If you want to steal it and try it out, by all means, go for it! Just be sure to comment mid-process so I can have a laugh.
-Hanging on your computer screen and mumbling about how much you love Ianto
-Trying to explain to your friend this difference between wanting to shag Jack and loving Ianto
-Cursing Jack for being a whore
-Cursing Gwen for being a whore
-Seriously Owen, how many things do you kiss per episode?
-Fucking John Hart was right, it's just sex sex sex with these people...
-What the hell Torchwood, STOP CRYING
-Why are they still crying?
-Oh my gosh now they're injured and crying?
-Seriously why did I even try this...oh there's Ianto. I love you Ianto!!
