I'M GOING TO ENGLAND!!!!
Oct. 18th, 2010 12:26 pmAnd Wales!! And Scotland!!!
I am so super psyched!! I'm going to the UK this spring!
And I want to meet my UK internet friends and drink!!! (It's a family trip which means I'm going to definitely need some evening drinks. And noon drinks. Hell, not adverse to brunch drinks either.)
It's through a travel package thing, so I'm going to post my itinerary and see if I've got some friends-ies I can meet on my way around the UK!!!!
March 4: Flight from hell.
March 5: Arrive in London (duh)
March 6: More London
March 7: Leave London, hit up Cambridge, York, and Leeds, spending the night in Leeds.
March 8: Jedburgh, Melrose, Edinburgh, spending the night in Edinburgh. <- Hadrian's Wall that day!! Eeeee!!
March 9: Edinburgh (Is there really enough to do there? I guess so?)
March 10: Edinburgh, Gretna Green, Lake District (which I learned about from QI!), Chester, Wrexham. Spending the night in Wrexham.
March 11: Wrexham, Ironbridge, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Broadway, CARDIFFF!!! Spending the night in CARDIFF!!!!
March 12: Cardiff, Bath, Stonehenge, Salisbury, London. Spending the night in London
March 13: London
Geeee!!!! *dance dance dance*
So, I'm totally going to have my Tom Baker scarf finished by then, which will make me totally AWESOME (right? That's how things work in England, right?), and I'm totally going to bring some fanfiction or something to sacrifice to the Tourist Office if the little memorial is still there.
Anyway, so British friends, reply to this!! I am totally determined to meet some of you while I'm there!! And also drink. ^.^

Sounds like you have a lot to do then, have a nice time, shopping in Cardiff is great! Lol.

Date: 2010-10-18 09:22 pm (UTC)Read a comment above where you said you're not coming South... you're totally missing out on the Doctor Who Exhibition at Lands End in Cornwall! - it's always there and I never fail to visit it when I'm down there.
Also, the shrine is still at the tourist office. My best friend went to Wales in the summer and visited it :)
Last thing - It sucks to be me... I can't even freakin' drink yet. I'm 18 next June. But, when you said meet some people, I don't think you meant teenagers/just turning adults.. or maybe you meant anyone who totally adores Torchwood/Doctor Who etc. etc. I don't know :P
Have fun though! Enjoy the wonderful spring weather :P

Date: 2010-10-18 09:26 pm (UTC)You gotta remember, the oldest thing within a hundred miles of my house is about 50 years old. If you go up to Boston to see *really* old stuff, it's still only 300 years old. So yes, England *is* that cool!!
Also: Torchwood. So :P
And by "meet people", I totally met Doctor Who/Torchwood fans, not just heavy crazy drinkers. And I'm only 22, so it's not like you're a total baby or anything. So if I'm in/near your town, we could totally meet and high-five and stuff!!!

Date: 2010-10-18 09:34 pm (UTC)I suppose it is quite cool we have mega old stuff if you think about it. I so love how much you love England :P
Closest place I can get to is London; I live down South... ish, where you're not going :P If I had a car and could drive I'd totally come up, but money hates me atm so I have none and can't afford lessons or a car *weary sigh*
Still, have fun! And go on the London Eye... it's slooooow but it's a place you HAVE to go if you're in London :)

Date: 2010-10-19 03:04 pm (UTC)I came across this because I just found your Gwil story and just started reading it. Your trip sounds similar to my December one: London, Wales, then Scotland.
Yes, the memorial is still there at the moment. But depending on what areas they film at for Torchwood beginning in January, it might be gone by then. You might want to check out the Doctor Who Exhibition while you're in the UK. The last 3 of them will be closing soon, in order to prepare for the new one being built in Cardiff(but not for 15 months after the other close!)

Date: 2010-10-20 02:21 am (UTC)You're kidding about finding things to do in Edinburgh, right? The castle alone is fantastic, but the Royal Mile is also a touristy but interesting place to wander. Check out the World's End pub.
Have fun! I've done similar tours to get my bearings and then gone back later to check out places I wanted to explore on my own. You'll have a great time!
