Date: 2010-02-09 12:29 am (UTC)I come from a tradition that was divided on Lent as it was. (We were on the fun side. Sure, we had pancake supper for Shrove Tuesday, but then we kept on eating pancakes every day, and everything else we wanted, right up to the Easter chocolate orgy! We gave up nothing.)
But I think the point of Lent is to focus the body and mind to prepare for the miracle of Easter. In that case, your 3rd and 4th options would seem to be right out. And since I think canon, in this case, holds that the sin is committed in your heart, to be safe you'd probably want to stop thinking/caring about sex - let alone having it - outside the context of a marriage sanctioned by the church.
This is about where I begin think it's OK if we set our own standards, within reasonable limits, and just do our best.
There's a Christianity comm on LJ and you could ask them except I don't think they'll let you join if you write porn. Seems a bit unfair, no?
Sorry for rambling on and I hope you haven't taken anything here as being the least bit judgmental. I just find it so refreshing that someone's actually considering a question of faith in this context that I couldn't keep myself from responding.
I hope you have a rewarding Lenten season, however you chose to celebrate/endure it. Peace.
